Government decided to accord highest priority to training in order to augment the human resources and to enhance their capabilities with an objective of increasing the knowledge base as well as enhancing skill sets. In Defence Accounts Department, five Regional Training Centres were established in different regions. Regional Training Centre (RTC), Kolkata was established in March 1992 in order to cater to the training needs of Eastern Region, which commenced its functioning from the old premise at 5, C.R. Avenue, Kolkata-700072.
Subsequently, full-fledged training Centre with all modern training facilities and hostel accommodation was established at EM Block, Sector-V, Salt Lake, Kolkata 700091. It become fully operational in the new RTC building w.e.f 18th December 1997.
Regional Training Centre (Eastern Region) has been designated as the Centre of Excellence in the field of Cost & Financial Accounting of Ordnance & Ordnance equipment Factories.
The responsibility to conduct Defence Financial Management Courses for Army & Air Force Officers have been entrusted to this Institute by Ministry of Defence to familiarize the service officers with the knowledge of Financial Management. RTC (ER) has been successfully organizing 4 to 5 DFMCs annually at Kolkata, Guwahati, Shillong etc.
RTC Kolkata has successfully adopted to online mode of training in order to comply with the travel restrictions imposed by the government due to outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic. All trainings are now being conducted online using video conferencing software. A virtual classroom has also been set up to boost the online training activities.
RTC Kolkata is committed to fulfill the training needs of the officers & staff of Defence Accounts Department. This training Centre has been very actively lending its helping hand to all its clients towards achievement of their aims and objectives. Focused orientation programs for new comers to specific organizations like Factory organizations as well as mid-career refresher training programs for the personnel & Officers are being organized. Major programs include- Induction course for newly recruited and Clerks, Induction course for newly promoted AAOs, AOs, sensitization training to auditors in promotion zone, Cost & Financial accounting and auditing, courses on computer languages & applications. The in-house domain experts and guest faculties from various government and private organizations of repute are invited to impart training.
